Maniumpathy is a stately private house in Colombo with a history spanning over a century. Originally a colonial-era residence, it has been home to five generations of a family whose roots trace back to Jaffna in the north of Sri Lanka.
Over time, the house has evolved through careful additions and adaptations, resulting in a layered domestic architecture shaped by memory, use, and continuity. A recent restoration and expansion by architect Chamika de Alwis has reinterpreted the house with sensitivity, preserving its historic character while introducing a contemporary extension that integrates seamlessly with the original structure.
