CEYLON is a long-term photographic body of work made across Sri Lanka between 2008 and 2024.
The series moves between landscape, architecture, ritual, and daily life — not as documentation, but as quiet observation. These images are shaped by time spent returning to the same places, watching light shift, and allowing moments to settle rather than unfold.
The work is rooted in memory and geography. Hills, temples, coastlines, villages, and human presence appear not as subjects to be explained, but as forms held in balance — where stillness, labour, devotion, and erosion coexist.
CEYLON is not intended as a narrative of place, but as a sequence of pauses. Each photograph stands on its own, while remaining part of a wider rhythm formed over years of looking, waiting, and returning.
A quiet geometry of light and life.
A hillside community held in symmetry and rhythm, photographed in the soft morning light of Ragalla’s tea country in 2020. Lines, textures, and everyday gestures settle into a quiet balance — a moment of stillness shaped by human life and the land it depends on.
